UK politically motivated arrests and long sentences

Charlie Gilmour has recently dominated headlines for being sentenced for 16 months for ‘violent disorder‘ for his behaviour at the student protests last year. Link

Joining him, Francis Fernie, student who was involved with protests outside of Fortnum & Mason on March 26th, has been sentenced to 12 months for ‘violent disorder‘.  What is even more significant about Fernie is that he handed himself in to Police, co-operated fully, had no criminal record and was known for his charity work in the community.  Link

Elsewhere, King Tox, graffiti artist was recently sentenced for 27 months. Link
